The Newtown Sandy Hook Vintage Base Ball Club in partnership with Newtown Savings Bank, The Newtown Bee, Newtown Parks & Recreation, the American Heart Association announces the launch of a fund raising program for the Harmon Family Fund and the American Heart Association. This summer long program will be run in conjunction with 'Hearts for Harmon' to benefit the family of Waterbury native and Newtown Bee Sports Editor Kim Harmon who passed away suddenly in 2007.

The highly successful 'Hits for Harmon' program for 2008 is now closed. The estimate of pledge donations from this year's program currently stands at nearly $3.000.00.

Thank you to all who donated their time and resources to this worthwhile cause.

  Hits for Harmon's First Prize Grand Prize Winner is Scott Goodrich of Windsor, CT who is a veteran of the Waterbury Connors Base Ball Club. Scott's name was chosen at McLaughlin Vineyards on Sunday, August 17th from a pool of eighty-two entries.  


 

 

AWARDED on August 17 after the Waterbury Connors match at McLaughlin Vineyards all pledged donations will be collected and paid sponsors will become eligible for a prize drawing of: Four seats plus Four Stadium Club passes and parking pass to the Red Sox verses Yankees at old Yankee Stadium on August 28th (donated by the Newtown Sandy Hook Vintage Base Ball Club) .

VIEW SEATS: Thursday August 28, Gametime: 7:05 - 4 Tickets, 4 Stadium Club Tickets, 1 Parking Pass - Gate 4, Section 5, Box /Row 13H, Seats: 5/6/7/8

AWARDED on September 2 after Labor Day weekend the second prize drawing of: Four seats plus parking to the last home stand in old Yankees Stadium when the Yankees play the league leading Tampa Bay Rays on September 12th (donated by the Newtown Sandy Hook Vintage Base Ball Club) and Two Seats to any Bridgeport Sound Tigers 2008-09 Game (donated by Newtown Savings Bank).

50% of all proceeds from 'Hits for Harmon' will be donated directly to the Harmon Family Fund with 50% going to the American Heart Association.

'Cool Papa' Harmon played for the Newtown Sandy Hooks and remains Honorary Captain of the team.

The Hooks play a full schedule of matches throughout the Northeast against teams from the New England Vintage Base Ball League.

Base ball 'the way it was meant to be played' by the rules of 1860's, by players who truly love the game.
